A previous owner rigged Amberjack for commercial salmon trolling in the 1980’s. He did his own work and it was crude including the inside steering.
The steering station has been bugging me for the many years I’ve owned the boat and this winter I removed it. It was a chore and wound up being expensive but I think it was worth it.
Thanks Tony. The lower controls are disconnected but haven't been moved yet. My plan is to flip them upside down and mount them on the overhead. In retrospect it would have been a lot cheaper just to skip the AP and on the rare occasion run the boat from inside using engine controls only.
I did the glasswork such as it is. Used a drill to clean up the old screw holes, filled them with MarineTex white, sanded with 220-400-600, polished with light rubbing compound and then waxed. You can still see the old fastener wounds if you look for them.
