Value of 1977 B28

Post by Rawleigh »

I have a friend inquiring about the a ballpark value of a 1977 B28 FBC in the mid-Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia. Twin Mercruiser 260's (?) not currently running. Otherwise in good condition. Bimini with storm curtains. Anchor windlass. It is currently on a covered boat lift. The owner wants to donate it to the local waterman's museum and my friend on the board of directors is trying to figure out if they want to deal with taking it as a donation and then auctioning it off. Sorry I don't have more details. Thanks.

No real idea, but it seems like a lot of work for a couple grand. The boat is almost 50, not running. Sounds like my B25 in 2009. I paid $2500, including the trailer (which was in need of a rebuild, too.)

Not running, hull in good shape, depending on how much work is needed to repower figure $5,000 to $15,000. If she is really clean and was running probably $30,000.

Figure new complete gas engines, plus transmissions if that is all it needs has to be around $20,000. Clean hull plus engines you are all in $30,000 if you do it yourself. Add labor then you are close to $40,000.
