Windshield Help B20 Baron

Hi Guys:

I thought perhaps some of you might be able to point me in the right direction. The original windshield in my B20 Baron needs some significant work. Aside from replacing the plexi, the aluminum frames have some damage and need to be replaced or worked. I believe the original manufacturer was Taylor Made. I'd like to keep it as original as possible. 1) any thoughts on a specialist on this type of thing where I could sent it 2) if not, might a machine shop be able to reproduce the frames that need attention?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Check with American Marine. They can make a turn key windshield, complete with glazing. You may have to send your old windshield to them as a pattern...

MarkD, my Baron windshield is also corroded and pitted and looking crappy. I am planning a replacement this winter and I want it to look completely stock. I was going to do one of two things. 1) Have my fabricator purchase extrusions and copy the existing windshield and use lexan for the windscreen or 2) use stainless steel rectangular tubing of similar dimensions to create a much stiffer and more rigid structure so you could lean on it or use it as a hand-hold without fear of destroying it and without putting in a centre brace that would spoil the line of the dash. I would be very interested what you get for a quote and I will certainly share my pricing and availability with you once I know. Perhaps an order of 2 would give us better pricing.

Cheers,

Rod

When I replaced the windshield on my B20 Bahia, I used Veralex in QUEBEC.

I think I paid about $800 CND and reused my forward glass. I am very happy with the results.

My quote from AMERICAN marine was several times more expensive.

Only downside was that it took a long time.

Ian.

Guys,

American Marine has been bought by Pompanette and does not do custom windows anymore. I found all this out about 3 months ago when investigating aft windows.

I spoke with Waterway systems http://www.waterwaysystems.com/ and got a great response, but I ended up going frameless.

This fellow is on his game and interested in cracking the Bertram community with some replacements. I bet he will be eager to help! His name is Chuck, and his # is 941-752-3554.

Hope that helps!!!!

Dug:

Chuck at Waterways was terrific. He called me right back after I sent him photos and suggested refurbishing my existing frames. He went through the process with me and how he would fix the broken frames, replace the acrylic and fix a few other items Price was very reasonable. Rod, you may want to give him a call also. I'll be sending mine down to him in the next month for completion.

Thanks for the lead.....

Mark

Glad to hear it. I found that he was great. As I said, he was my first choice if I were to go with framed windows. :)
