Looking for a reputable South Florida fiberglass repair shop

Post by Dug »

Now that Captain Patrick is happily entrenched in Texas, I wouldn't know where to turn!

I have a friend who keeps his boat in Key West. It is a very nice 28' Hydra Sport. The rack it was stored on collapsed.

He is looking for a good fiberglass repair resource in south Florida.

He has been told to stay away from the Keys...

I was hoping one of you guys who lives in Southern Florida might chime in with an opinion.

Bruce, would your yard handle this type of stuff?

Thanks in advance!

You can try Glass Tech in Miami---305-633-6491---I don't have a contact name.

I don't take in that type of extensive damage.

Anything in the Miami area will almost require owner to speak spanish.

You can try glas tech, but I had trouble with the no habla espanol with office personal and anyone in the yard I ran across had no english speaking capability. All very nice guys, but hand signals and cave drawings don't go over well.

Maybe Kevin will chime in. Living in the Marathon area he will know.
If he doesn't respond, pm him.

Thank you all for the great and fast advice.

Truth be told, the damage is superficial. Deep scratches and one good solid gunwale gouge.

These are not through hull punctures, or ripped and shredded fiberglass.

I will pass on the information to Don (my friend) and it is much appreciated.

Bruce, I may suggest he give you a call to determine whether the scale of work is within your scope. I trust you implicitly and completely.

Now Bruce, no need to ditch the compliment. I didn't need to give it, now did I?

I appreciate everyone's advice.

Thanks,

Dug
