Now that is classic. Deserved for those with Hyena boats that make fun of the 31.

On the Carolina style boats, that big upfront flair helps a lot also. If the 31 had some of that flair it would be a lot dryer.

Re: Doug, how is the painted laminate holding up?
I have no complaints about mine. looking at others I do see things I like better, like the teak boards are chamfered giving a nicer finished appearance in my opinion. Thank You.
I need to redo mine.
I talked to a couple of vendors at the AC Boat Show about Sea Dek and a couple of others. They all said it would not work on top of plywood. They said the wood holds moisture and it would eventually lift.
Glad to hear it worked for you.

Nice paint job. I like the way it came out.
Is that a sliding door going into the Head? If it is, Great idea.
The floor also looks great. What material did you use?

Glad it worked out. Maybe you should patent the design. If it works on a 31 it will work on other boats.

Usually when updating the boat, that trip is removed and glassed in. Unfortunately to do that you will probably need to paint the bridge so it all matches unless you can find a really good glass guy.

That last picture brings back memories of running offshore with coolers of ice stored wherever there was space. Best spot was on the engine box behind the bridge ladder. We could tie it off so it wouldn't move.

I have seen the bottom peeled, never the top sides. I am sure it can be done. But can you just grind out the cracks, fair everything out, give it a light sanding and paint. Might be easier to do.

Question, how easy is it to move should you need to get into one of the hatches in an emergency? I assume you are bolting it down to the deck.

What about open array vs dome. Open is more expensive but covers more of the bases.
Better separation of targets and better for bird spotting.

If I understand this correctly, it seems that Progressive only picked up the extra liability on the Sailboat, acting in this case a re-insurer.
Is the Bertram fully insured with Progressive or does USAA still maintain a policy for it?

Given the range of our boats, and if you can get the EPIRB fired off, you should be rescued in a matter of hours and probably no longer than 24 hours so you could get away with a Coastal model. I bet the plywood block rotted out and they jury rigged something to act like a backing plate which really wasn't right.
