Owned a 95 with 315 Cummins for about three years. Real slippery hull, about 1.6-1.7 KMPG at 27 knots. Real sexy, looked like it was doing 30 kts standing still at the slip. However, you could loose your fillings in short 3-4 ft chop offshore. I once bent the outriggers (tower mounted) trying to run...

Looks great but costly if you're not in the repair business. I'm thinking I could fabricate something similar out of 2" box stock for the transom pretty cheap, and support the bow for the swing. Thanks

Installed on my 31 CABO in 1998, reduced spray substancially, no problems for 4 years and 750 hrs. of northeast canyon fishing until I sold the boat. Boat hauled every winter with no problems. Highly recommended, installation a breeze. Also being pvc, very receptive to paint.

Good points from both raybo and rocket, maybe using rocket's experience, if I fabricate something similar and weld the pipe towards the bottom of the keyhole opening in the transom, the boat will want to stay inverted after rolled until I'm able to sure up with stands. Got about two months to wait a...

turning over 20 bahia hull

20 bahia project is asleep for the winter, contemplating how I could turn boat upside down to work on damage to lower stem/bottom/strakes/ ect. from prior owner come spring. Boat washed up on rocks during a noreaster. Media blasting exposed prior repairs which I will grind down and replace/repair. H...

I had the same in my Egg Harbor, repowered in 1994. The dealer set up the idle at 700 in neutral, which is recommended by Cummins (7-750). I did raise them for a smoother idle. Like walter said, you can drop your idle, but they will tend to "grind" a liitle. Too bad there's no slow idle setting like...

Thanks Walter. I've been shopping around a little, a the best price by far has been has been Marine Power Service, in New Jersey. Still working on fairing the hull, no heat so it will have to wait for spring. Hope to be doing power over next winter.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely going with the duo prop, and maybe even the composite outdrive. When done, the boat will spend time on Long Island NY in summer and Jensen Beach Fl in the winter. I was on the fence for the 190hp, but the performance numbers you give sound great. Thanks again,...

CMP, been lookin' for ya! Made a post earlier, saw you sold the boat on the bertram 25 site. Did you have a D3 Volvo in the boat? I'm currently restoring a 69 20 Bahia Mar, and the D3 160 is pretty high on my list for power. If you had one, or similar, any performance stats and/or opinions would be ...

Walter, I've owned two deli's at two different times, and been through sales tax audits with both. Seems NYS Tax likes to target people who don't have the ability or resources to fight back. It was like dealing with the MOB (think I can say that if I'm Italian, right)! Sounds like you're in good sha...

Steve, There is a hand plunger pump by the primary fuel filter on the engine. It's a knurled round knob about 1 1/2 inches in diameter at the top of the filter. Turn the knob counter clockwise and pull out the plunger to pump. You'll know when it's done. Remember to tighten the plunger back when don...

20 w/D3 diesel/looking for CMP

I read on the 25 bertram website, 20 bertram link, that CMP sold his 20 w/D3 power. I'm currently restoring a 69 20 Bahia Mar, and the 160 HP D3 Volvo I/O is on the top of my list. Any feedback from CMP would be appreciated, can't beat real performance specs. Thanks, Mark

Looking at the front of the engine, your temp regulator(s) are behind the heat exchanger all the way at the top right corner of the front of the block. There are two, both behind the cover. Depending on the arrangement you have, probably have to remove the exchanger to get to those. I also had a sma...

20 bertram site

A while back I was directed to a website that focused on 20 and 25 berts. Currently doing a 20 Bahia Mar project boat, removing cockpit liner, recoring transom, stripping down topside gelcote to glass (thanks to Capt Pat), etc, etc. It might have been Ian who told me about this site. Anyone remember...

Capt. Patrick, good advise on the gelcoat repairs. Another question; on the badly checked area's of the cockpit sole, there are small black lines which mirror the checks which were sanded off. I was told by a good local fiberglass guy that I should put a layer of mat over the bare glass and fair tha...

20 bertram bahia mar

Recently aquired a 1969 20 bahia mar for restoration. The gelcoat is badly checked, and I'm told it needs to be taken down to glass for refinishing. Anyone with experience or advice would be appreciated. Deck will be removed, stringers and transom replaced, etc. Also looking for factory brochure(s).
