The goldfish will be there soon for year 3, some final touches. Tom and his crew are the best.

Thumbs up for Holtz Boatworks

Just wanted to mention that Tom Oakes is doing remarkable work at holtz. We had some sandy damage and the project morphed into a new bow rail, riggers, helm chair and full paint job from the bridge down. Next year we paint the bridge, do something with the front windows and put the new dash on. Did ...

Re: Holtz Dashboard thoughts?

Dug
I saw the mold a couple of weeks ago. We are going to install it next year, we kind of ran out of time on the sandy repairs and all of the additional work we decided to do. It looks sweet and I saw some pictures of it on toms old boat.

Walter K has the method

if you do a search, look for walter k's method. He turned us on to his procedure and it is simple and really effective. Once a year and then a little touch up over the season keeps it looking great

I've never gone 5 turns lock to lock with the sea star because its 3 1/2 turns. Don't have to look at a gauge to know you have a problem, which has happened exactly one time in the 15 or so years since we installed it. If you need to add oil, just unscrew a cap right at the wheel. That has happened ...

Nice fish

Dug
Nice fish!
The tuna were in the hudson sunday, the trick was to try to avoid the crowd. We got there nice and early and did our damage and left. The edge was lined with boats by mid morning but we got all of our fish well out on the flats all by ourselves.

We have the exact same problem. Did the advice from UV do the trick? I would love to think that the solution is as simple as that.

Tom Pagano?

The superintendent at my kids school is Tom Pagano, a really nice guy. Since we live next to Asbury Park I thought he may be related.
Sorry I can't help with your problem, but good luck getting it straightened out.

Thank You

Thanks for the responses. I think I have a pretty good idea now. Vic- thanks for the offer but I don't think its necessary to send pics. Tony- Still have the original, but its pooped out after 33 years of service. I have a feeling that it may not be an easy fix, as this was the only wire on the boat...

running light placement

For those of you who have replaced the red/green bow lights, where exactly have you mounted them? As far outboard as possible or on the vertical portion of the bridge? If any of you are in New Jersey maybe I could take a look before drilling any holes.
Thanks

sorry harv, didn't see your post

Harv I just saw this post, didn't mean to ignore you: Real Quick- cruise at 24 all day, max cruise 28, top speed 31.5, all knots. Fuel burn averages 1.7 nautical mpg. Gauge doesnt move on a bay bass run slow trolling so god knows the economy there, and on an average canyon trolling trip we burn +/- ...

When I looked at the first picture I thought, wow, I have never seen teak covering boards quite like what we have, minus the well. Then I read down and see that Roger did yours too. He is quite the master and did some really great work on our interior too. And you are correct, he wastes no time. Gre...

Those are skipjack, they are real tuna. Most all canned tuna are skippies except solid white, which is albacore (aka longfin).

John 3 seats on the bridge of a B31, the impossible dream. We got rid of the bench years ago and have tried to do what you are looking to do. We had jump seats but that was not really great. We currently have a helm seat and 2 side seats. The helm seat is OK, the side seats are tolerable. You absolu...

Here is an apt quote from Fred Archer, from a salt water sportsman issue Most gamefish spend more time down deep than they do on the surface. And guess what? They eat while they're down there. We have found downriggers pretty tough to use at tuna speed, even with the Z wing. The planer setup a la Br...

Hey Dug Where do you keep your boat? The dip seems like a long way to go from Mass. We had a great bite last weekend in the deep of the hudson (3600') and ended up with 17 nice yellows. Left em biting in the AM on the troll and had a very fat blue around but couldn't interest him. That water is gone...
