Be sure to check all grounds. The coil overheating can a sign that it does not have a good path to discharge spark through. This can be the gap, the head, the plug wire. I would ohm everything out.

Its very hard for some people to say that they screwed up or werent paying attention. This CC strike looks like the perfect case of that. When you see damage like that you will get one of two stories "I screwed up" or "the darn thing jumped out in front of me and it wasnt my fault".

At the end of the year when I haul, the ablative is all but gone. No growth on the old bottom paint. I am sure it looses some of its protection over time but its still better then nothing.

I didnt stager the colors, I have black hard paint under the black ablative.

I went two years of hard over the barrier coat before I went ablative.

I just wanted something to protect the barrier coat as I do wear off the ablative from beaching and running over jetskiers.

I would not want just ablative over barrier coat after all of the work.

Ensure that your mechanic does a leak down test instead of a compression test. A leak down is much more comprehensive and gives a better indication of the overall condition of the engine.

Just my 2 cents.
