Pat, I wonder if that was the boat sitting next to Gerry's at Cabrera's yard? I thought it was going back to Puerto Rico, but maybe it got sold. If it was then the exhaust risers need to be checked for height above the water line. He was havin a problem with that the last time I saw that boat. If th...

BUT, we just want it to be as good as we can make it Nic, If you follow that logic then what you would want to do is recess the whole strut plate into the hull. The drag on a face fair is less than the drag on a flat face but there is no drag if the plate is recessed. See how far it can go if you o...

Pat, Never too old to play with power tools, we just get complacent. Tore up my hand the other day cutting the rudder gland bolts out. Melted a rubber glove into the cut, kinda helped keep the bleeding low, just was in a hurry and trying to use a worn disc. Watch it with no one around. Don't want to...

My Condolences to Daryl Dykens at Mastry Engine
Many of you have dealt with Mastry for your engine purchases. My sales contact Daryl who I have known for far too many years, lost his wife to an illness on Tuesday morning. Daryl, if you see this my friend, Shirley and I send our sincere condolences to you and Sarah. May God grant you peace during ...

Kevin, Don't jump into the computer balance if you have no vibration. Before checking anything else, check for WOT. Thats the first thing. I will get my prop guy to figure out some wheel sizes for you. What's that 28 weight, 12K? Remember when diagnosing any problem, always look at the simple things...

Racor fuel filters have a ball check to prevent backflow as UV already stated. Paneltronics. They are down in Miami. Just total up the number of ac circuits needed and what the amperage is for the size breakers. Get one with a main breaker and a voltmeter. That is the reason why #10 wire is not what you use in a bonding system and why Patrick said keep the length short when connecting to a flat copper strip that runs the length of the boat. More to look for
In checking my emails after returning from the show, I see two service bulletins stating that the glue used to hold some fuel filters together is dissolving and clogging the fuel systems under ethanol.
Check with your own filter makers and see if they are having the same problem.

Based on my calculations, it comes out to 4hp. But the formula I use says no wind or tide, period. Plus outboards don't really put out the full hp untill you reach the upper rpm limits at 5000 so you'd be winding that engine up all the time. To be safe I'd look at a 9.9 minimum. After mounting the b...

It is measured from the bottom of turbo outlet. The turbo outlets are not 6" diameter. Most all turbo outlets are 3" in the 300HP range. It only gets bigger because of the water and the backpressure that and the piping will cause. Always check to see what the manufacturer of your engine recommends f...

placement of the exhaust out the transom is due in part to what size exhaust you are running and whether it is outboard or inboard of the outer stringer. What you do want to do is always have a down hill run to the outlet otherwise you create the effect where no water comes out for a few seconds and...

Mikey, What Walter described will meet the needs of 90% of the 31 owners. Simple and effective. The only thing I would add is a 30amp marinco or other brand zinc saver(isolator) to the AC system. An isolating tranformer is not really necessary for the 31. Don't connect any grounds, ac or dc to the b...
