These two units seem to be pretty close in comparison. Does anybody have any experience with either? The sound shield on the next Gen looks a little nicer but the unit in a little more expensive. Thanks Joe

Lost count at 300 man hours, dura tec London fog gel coat,faired and blocked 5 times, chased pin holes for hours, pictures don't do it justice, taken with my first generation Iphone. 180grit, 220, 400,600,800,1000,(1500,2000, 2500 wet with the DA) then polish. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w201...

If the group and Bertramp (Steve) is good with it I would be happy to take the lead. It will take me a week to get the mold ready to pull off of and I think I can pull two a week with my schedule.

John, I just did mine, brushed it with dura tech self leveling bilge coat. Tough as nails and they are in CA. I think awl grip is over priced for a bilge as small as the Bertram 31.
I also use alot of POR15 products. I order directly from them and have never had any problems.

Thanks Tony, You were a huge help getting me on the board and passing my info to Capt. Pat. Bob, All one off MDF molds sprayed with a polyester primer and sanded to 1000 grit and polished. I speak from experience on both issues. I had a battery fail that was bow mounted for a windless. I caught it before there was a fire only due to the rotten egg smell it gave off when it let go. yes, I had some done for a hot rod I owned, Not good for UV and does scratch, ALMOST looks like chrome. Think of the chrome on a model you built as a kid,(or adult) Very similar. Joe

While I can appreciate the craftsman ship, I believe you over built them, your slightly underpowered as is and adding weight will only cost you knots. You could achieve the same effect of the center supports the aluminum angle. Joe

Thanks, I was thinking of running bolts through the stringer in a few spots instead of the pinch. I can also add later as I need them. I tend to store a lot up in the v birth and under the floor. I’m pretty sure they’re going to get bent over and eventually break. Any thoughts? Joe
