Would you like to buy a bowchock?
More information to share! Lead time. I believe we are looking at 1-2 months to make the tooling, and then 1-2 months to get the castings, polish and drill. Total of between 2-4 months for lead time. I am waiting for the vendor to confirm this. I am also waiting for them to confirm what alloy of sta...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I printed two threads from times past and think I am pretty well prepped. DQ, your info is perhaps the most valuable!!!!!! If you could snap a picture of what it looks like on the inside it would be great but not imperative by any means. And also, did you end up using a...

Installation of Underwater lights questions.
I am preparing to install the underwater lights in my transom, potentially this weekend. I am curious about placement on the transom. At this point they will go inside the stringers, about 28 inches apart, and about 6 inches up from the bottom of the boat. I am going to do a search of articles, beca...

Bow Chock Update #2
One step closer! The bow chock will remain a 3 piece style, as it enables much simpler polishing. It will not include accomodations for light holes. It will be cast out of solid stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish. It will retain all original bolt holes. I am to the point where I am requ...

John,
Call Release Marine and ask if they have any overstocks, or returns. When people upgrade or buy new, they often trade in the ones currently there. Before I did my bench, I came really close to a used chair that looked spectacular.

Nope, flying sunday, I hope. And I picked the best airline in the world for this! Jet Blue. Hmmm... Just crossing my fingers at this point. But until then, we fish in the morning! And I will worry about it when I have to, if I have to. Until then, between boat racks collapsing, antenna's buzzing, fl...

That is what I thought. We high tailed it out of there pretty quickly. My buddy had his boat on the top level of a rack in the Oceanside Marina and the rack collapsed on Wednesday afternoon loaded with boats. We drove into the yard yesterday and the rack looked like a pretzel. So far it has been a g...

Antenna Noise
I was fishing today aboard a friends boat off Key West. We put up the vhf antenna in some rain and noticed something that threw us all for a loop. the antenna was buzzing. Any idea what would cause that? We were expecting to get hit by lightening, based on the wierd noise. For real, any ideas? Dug

I agree with JK. Alchemy has an E-120, with the dsm300, and the sirius satellite weather which at this point seems to have more functionality than the XM, but the radio control module is coming this summer. I have the 1000 watt through hull ducer. I can see a swimming gnat at 1000 feet at 25 knots. ...

I have always put them about a foot up the shaft from the strut. I used to lose them all the time. The fastening is done by that ring, and it also serves ...

I have a friend with a 22' Mako center console she is trying to move. It is a 2001 with an evinrude 225 outboard with 200 hours on it with trailer in CT. Bow Chock Update
I have information! I need to gauge real interest in how many bow chocks there is a demand for. If you don't remember, I contacted a foundry run by an acquaintance. They cast in stainless. We talked about the possibility of tooling up the ability to make imitation Bertram bow chocks. By imitation I ...

Yes, in Plymouth. I talked with them at length at the NE boatshow, and they have a lot of equipment in thier shop. Shears, big press brakes, and welding capacity. I am not sure that they outsource, but I won't argue, I just don't feel like it today. They had a pile of tanks in the booth, and if they...

I just got the new Boat U.S. magazine and there was an interesting note about Marine Power 8.1's. Seems that the overlapping valves cause real water intrusion problems with some of these engines. 50% of the time it is used, the rest it holds stuff. If I am doing an offshore trip, none of the guys use it, and it holds the food bag in place.
