without knowing one way or another, I did the 4 coats as a group with the last 2 coats in the dark with some 500 watt halogens for light and a bunch of bug spray to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Hi All, The ideal I am trying to hit is 4 layers rolled on, mix and roll on in @20 min, let cure for 30 min, repeat 3x with the last coat being waxed gelcoat where as coats 1-3 are no wax added gelcoat. below the driveway there is a rubble stone retaining wall 3 feet tall and built into it is a barbecue probably built some time in the 1950s. an update, I ended up sanding with the transom 220 grit on a small 5" random orbital sander and then moved over to 400 wet by hand and sanded till my arms wanted to fall off. There is one area where the sanding wore through the gelcoat and it is in the upper corner of the transom so I will touch it ...

agreeing with Rabo I put 4 coats of gelcoat rolled on saturday and let it cure out sunday. Let the fun begin :) Lets just say the orange peel even with thinning out the gelcoat is fairly bad. I have not used it on the Bertram Project lately, been somewhat swamped with work so any free time I get, I'm focusing on getting all the sanding and fairing of the cockpit done. I think when I get the areas gelcoated and I start on adding finishing touches and will pick that up again.

I get great satisfaction when trailering the boat and the bilge pump kicks on and shoots water 10' out from the side of the boat. I've yet to give a blast of tasty bilge water to a convertible car with it but have definitely got a few cars with the juice.

I sanded out the glass in the cabin floor as well as the panels I did in the side of the cockpit and did a first pass with some filler.

Let's just say, Fiberglass itch + a sunburn from this weekend is not a fun combination
