Re: Possible New 31 Owner
Robert, Interesting data... Especially from the stand point of the quest for just how many B31s were built. We all knew that the count was somewhere between 1750 and 1780 hulls. With yours being #1716, produced in January of '86, and 22 anniversary editions, that narrows the count number to between ...

Jimmy,
Are you talking about the 2 exposed longitudinal joints between the 3 piece deck? If so, use a white latex with silicon tile and tub caulk.

Thank you Carl: The Voice of Reason! I've witnessed many owners spend hundreds, even thousands, of dollars on prop tweaking trying to get another knot or two out of their boat. And for what? It's actually the trailing edge of a prop that gets the cup... Cup holds or grips the water before allowing it to spill off and cup also has the effective results as adding diameter. So a 20" wheel with a medium cup is effectively very similar in action as non-cupped 21" wheel. Slip, relating to a b...

Matt, Use a flapper style PVC check valve... Best if installed vertically. Most hardware stores will have them, but if you want a clear one you may have to order online. Russ, That complicates things greatly... That lifted cap board is going to be almost impossible to clean under and prep. Russ, Nav's right... Use epoxy. First, scrape and clean the old cured resin from both the wood and fiberglass. Use a sharp tool, (triangular scraper, chisel point, etc), to scratch up the fiberglass for added bonding strength. Carefully do the same for wood, trying not to beak it more. Mask off anyt...

Les,
We're pretty close to yearly average up here... With over 3,500 sq ft of roof surface, around 5" of rain will fill a 10,000 gal system. That's potentially 50,000 gal a year.
Carl,

3" of rain in 30 minutes in south Florida is common in the summer I've done a lot of calculations on rain fall volumes lately. The B31, with roughly 100 sq ft of cockpit surface stands to collect around 62 gallons of water for every 1" of rain fall. 3" in 30 minutes, or 6" in 1 hour would be in the...
