Kelly, it ought to work.....guess you would have to put it on with a brush, spread it out, then buff it with a solf brush. The coating it leaves is very thin but hard as a rock.

Well, the Max Wax is still under study as no one has seemed to have tried it on our boats running gear. The buzz came from Corrosion X via a press release a few months ago that their biggest customer for the Max Wax, the Port of Auckland, N.Z. had discovered that spraying a 2-3 mil coating of Max Wa...

CX prices
CX tells me today their prices are fixing to go up a good bit the first of the year. I have some inventory that I'll keep the same prices on, so if any of you guys need some, order now. Remember, all my profits will go to this site till the end of the year. Pretty good response so far, some Faithful...

OK, I know nothing about "winterizing" since I live in the South and AJ stays in the water all year. Guess my dumb question is if you haul the boat and block it up, and have anti freeze in the closed side of the cooling system, why waste money putting anti freeze in the raw water side vs. just drain...

Sounds like the guy would have fit in pretty well at Port Eads. We could have bunked him in the Ric & Randall shipping crate........ Sadly those days seem over, we now have to rough it at Pinas Bay........ Last call for UVI 7, have some spots open that I'll have to give up shortly. Email me, VLR@RKK...

Ditto what Bruce says. The check valves in the Racors will take care of any flowback, but they are probably not even necessary if the fuel system is tight. The Cummins injector pumps are real tight and don't seem to want to flow back. Some other engines need the return line extended down into the ta...

Capt. Doug - ZF told me a couple of years ago that the 220As are rated for 370 hp, but it was about to go up with some upgrades. At 250 they seem bulletproof, with the rust preventative and maintaince procedures I outlined above. All in all, my experience has been excellent with this gear. If the oi...

Scot - when I became the Steward of AJ in the early 90's I found she had ZF IRM 220A gears behind the Cummins 6BTA 250s. Frankly, I'd never even heard of ZF gears at the time, and was leery. They are made in Italy. After putting a couple thousand hours on them, my observations are: 1. They are very ...

Vince - on AJ the boxes and bulkhead are original and the 6BTAs fit fine. The front of the engines are about 3 or 4 inches from the bulkhead and the belt cover needs to stay off. The glassed in tag is usually covered by years of dirt and you have to scrub to see it. Take a scrub brush and some Soft Scrub and scrub the area just behind the fuel pickup on the aft top of the tank and it should become visible. If not, I can measure my 222 gal. tank and you can compare, but it's ...

Well, the NHC says it ani't one, but they lie. We are having 35 kt winds with gusts to 50, pressures down to 29.44, tides 2-3' above normal all the way from TX to east of the river. Had trouble finding the Finesse without running all over town so got some McGuires #9 Swril Remover and called their tech people. They said it was about the same as Finesse, so gave it a try. By hand it did nothing to the heavier overspray. Used the orbital buffer with a terry pad. Slow, slow, slow ...
