I've heard of other cases where the gelcoat in the tanks came off in small 1/16 to 1/8" inch bubbles. Was that you that had that happen Vic? I agree that that is probably not ethanol related. I know that I have a rubber pad on my dash that occassionally gets wet from a windshield leak and I have sma...

John: I stripped mine myself last year. It wasn't that bad a job. I have since tried a new stripper that is very easy to use. You spray it on and in 15 minutes the paint is bubbled off. http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/ACCESSORIESSPECIALTY/PORSTRIP/tabid/121/Default.aspx I was going to re-barrier coat ...

I didn't think it would be too bad. WRONG!! It was almost as bad as Isabell!! I got caught short because I thought I could leave the boat in the boathouse. MISTAKE!! I went down to check on the tide at midnight Thursday. It was just below the stringer of the dock. I went back at 5 am for high tide. ...

I think that the problem boils down to "day sailers" as opposed to "bluewater sailers" such as yourself who really know what they are dealing with. While I was in school I worked two years at a boatyard and two years as dockmaster at a marina. I've seen both types in both power and sailboats. The "d...

Get Marine Clean from http://www.por15.com/. It is the most amazing cleaner that I have tried. I use it diluted 5:1 with water. It easily beats Simple Green or Castrol. I just cleaned a used lathe with it that diesel fuel would not even touch. It made it squeky clean and ready for paint! Non flammab...

Scott: I have a 66 31 Sportfish. The fiberglass is superior to most of the modern boats built today. I dont think that the glass is a concern. You should make sure that the stringers are sound though. Take a hammer and sound the stringers. A dull thump can indicate rot. i dont have a figure for the ...
