Joe that is some great info thanks! Hopefully someone will step up with a worthy prop suggestion. In terms of the rudder shelf it is wood but was replaced in 2008 when the deck was rebuilt i believe but i will check. I didnt realize the props were $1000 each. I will have to research further. Pete

Running Gear - upgrades/maintenence

Hey guys, let me thank you in advance for your thoughts. First thing in the spring I'd like to address the running gear on my boat, I've got a '69FBC with 454s. During my survey a few things came up: The starboard prop is dull and needs to be reconditioned or replaced. The cutlass bearings need to b...

In regards to the winter slip i am going to inquire with the village further today. I know they do not have shore power at the docks on shore road. I will find out what my options are the marina is just about full every winter so they must have something in place to either run their own bubblers or ...

Thanks for all the tips guys. The village marina here has an ice breaking program. Which means they keep a channel clear to the bay which stops the marina from freezing. The winter slip is in walking distance of the house so i do plan on being there often. Non toxic antifreeze sounds like a good idea. The boat will only come out for a short time in the spring for a bottom cleaning and some work. I will not be shrink wrapping the boat or pulling the hull plug for any...

Can you snap and post a few photos when your done?

If anyone has some pictures they can post of the entire system with the crash valve and the attachment for winterizing that would be awesome.

Bob,

Can you expand on this:

"....you need to have capt. patrick rudders to plant that stern before even thinking about making a attempt"

I understand how they can be helpful in tracking on a single motor, what do you mean by planting the stern?

Thanks Pete

It looks like the only difference in the MA2 vs. CG2 is the manual option. I don't understand how and why I would use manual operation. Can someone explain?

In any case I will pick up one of these two and worry about the auto shut off as I address other electrical issues over the winter.
