Next, carefully trace out the design on a piece of laminate.  Cut out the outline in the laminate and refine until the teak design fits exactly in the opening.   This will be the template used to create the void in which the inlay will be epoxied.

Register the template precisely where you want the inlay to be, tape it down, and carefully rout away the bulk of the area. Do not try to come right up to the edges of the template! Leave that for the exacto knife. If all worked out right, the inlay will now be a perfect fit into the void and can be epoxied in place.
