I was out in Montauk this weekend and saw what I think was Walters 31- Blue Beard, on the hard. Also have not seen Him post in awhile. Anybody know if things are ok with him? Walter, you out there?

I have been out of commission since the Fall when I returned from my Belize trip with Brewster. Seems all was not as "clear" as it was supposed to be on my kidney surgery. Not operable so I have been living(?) through the wonders of Chemotherapy since then. Just had my 17 th session and it is not an incentive to run to your computer when you get home....in fact it is not an incentive for anything but bed and assistance. Truth be told, since this started, the past 3 days have been the first I have felt anywhere near normal so tomorrow we'll put the Bluebeard in. Not sure why, but one day at a time. Even if it's just to sit my big chair and smile. Wish me luck (whatever that is with this crazy stuff). Walter

Walter,

Hope you feel better.

There is absolutley nothing wrong with sitting in your "big chair" with a smile.

Down Trinny way they had a word for it: Liming (or lymin'?)

"What's Liming?" I asked....

"Doing absolutely nothing at all ....and enjoying yourself immensely, Mon!"

Walter,
I hope your starting to feel better, being laid up is a real drag. Where did you and Brewster go in Belize?. I was there in 1994 fished Ambergris Cay and Turnereffe Island. The Turnereffe Island part was incredible, the first afternoon on the island, sight fishing for bones on 6 pound ultra light tackle, went 17 for 19 in 3 hours of walking along the reef, most of the bones were 4 to 6 pounds with a few over 8. Fished with a guide called 3 finger George, lost most of his fingers in a logging accident when he was a kid. The boat was an old Whaler that was held together with turn buckles at the transom, a real POS but it got us to the fish. The next morning I caught the in shore slam Tarpon, bone, permit and snook in 3 hours. I came down with a stomach aliment that afternoon, turned out to be amoebic dysentery, had to cut the trip short, still have a 6 day rain check for the remaining part of the trip. It took me 3 months to get over the stomach thing. Anyway keep your spirits up. I have to have another knee replacement in August #4 in 13 years, but nothing like what your going through.

Sir Walter.............

Never under estimate the healing power of a big smile, a comfortable chair and an afternoon nap. No doubt in my mind that you have solved many problems while relaxing in your Big Chair.

Stay strong my friend...

"to sit in a big chair and smile" is more then enough reason to launch Bluebeard!

...there is just something about being on the water that fills the soul and clears the head.

Prayers and Best Wishes being pushed your way.

Guys-Thank you for all your kind thoughts. It' seems what I am dealing with is not curable. What we are attempting to do via chemotherapy is shrink some of it. Reactions to chemo are unpredictable and sometimes kinda ugly. It certainly has left me quite weak and unable to attempt doing things I thought would be a piece of cake (including going downstairs to check the site). Laptops are my recommendation for any new purchases. Today is one of my "better days" so I'm taking advantage of it. This site has added an extra dimension to my life and given me dear friends I would never have known otherwise. Once the Bluebeard is in the water, If any of you are interested, let me know. Again, all of you, thank you for being there for me.

Walter,

You were kind enough to drop by and give me guidance on my B25 last year.
If there is anything I can do to help with your boat or other, please let me know.
I will be in the area from the 29th thru the 7th and off and on after that for the rest of the summer.

Going through what sounds like the same thing with my dad. Ups and downs, but with some help he is back on his boat, and looking forward to cruising this year, though not as ambitous as his usual. Hang in there.......at times it may not seem like it, but there are some good miles to go.

I don't want to speak for Walter. He is fighting hard and did make the trip to Greenport for dinner by car. Unfortunately weakened by his treatment he was in a wheelchair. He's a fighter and I'd venture to say most in his situation would have stayed in bed.

He's in our prayers and we wish him a speedy recovery.

SAD NEWS WALTER KAPRIELIANS PASSING

Posted: Sep 6th, '13, 11:45
by bobfioresi
I just received a phone call that one of our own, Walter Kaprielian passed away thurs nite at around 10 pm after a battle with kidney cancer. Walter was at the northeast rendezvous in august and got their in a wheel chair, but he was excited to see his friends. Shortly after that he re-entered the hospital for rehab and went home for a short time before going back in. he asked his lovely wife Dinaz to take him home yesterday and he passed away last nite . As I hear more, I will post it. I will go down to his boat today and run it for awhile as that was his pride and joy.it is up for sale. Sorry for the sad news I know Walter was one of the original 31 site guys and a wonderful gentleman.
