Prety cool.

I wonder if that was Hull #1. I always heard rumors that the first hull was orange.

It's not a rumor, in a Motorboat magazine article in January 1977 it says that Sam Griffith, a Bertram yacht broker and racer insisted that the first boat be molded in a tangerine color for the 1961 New York Boat Show. The article has some nice B/W pictures of the original first hull coming out of the mold and its christening. I'll try to scan the pages and post them soon unless someone already did before.
Looking for my next boat!

Well we have dispelled one rumor. The other one I heard is that Hull #1 is still around, orange and up to 10 years ago living on Long Island.

I would think that an Orange 31 would jump out in a crowd and one of us would know the hiding place of her today.
