Styer v. Yanmar

I'm repowering my 1972 B31 early next year..........if you were to choose between the styer 6cyl and the yanmar 6cyl, which will you pick and why.....40% of the time I'll be fishing and the other 60 I'll be cruising....please help

Until the 300hp Steyr comes out, you'll need to decide whether you want a 25 or 30 knot boat.

The faster boat will require the use of Yanmar.

Anything under that I would use a Steyr.

Thanks Bruce.....any idea when the Styer will come out.........how about mechanical problems from the Styer engines...........my family has rebuilt four B31..........last one was set to have yanmars 4cyl which were installed 13 years ago and still running...............after both turbos replaced and some work in the injectors............18 to 20 knots cruise speed............we replaced all wood with sintra (pvc).....which means a lighter boat

As per Walter, I would like ot hear about your thoughts on a B20 application of these motors. Have asked in two previous emails, but no reply to date

I am working with Steyr's application guy to get the right combination and then will price it out.

They are very busy, as I am also.
