Getting Parts re-chromed

Post by ktm_2000 »

Hi All,

since I am re-gelcoating my top cap I have taken off all the chrome parts, for the most part all my lees rod holders are in good shape, so is the hawse pipe for the anchor rode and bow lights. The stern hawse pipes are in reasonable condition and the front vents are in poor condition.

Here's the questionable stuff

Can anyone recommend a place to have them re-done? Is re-chroming the right thing to do?

thanks for your advice

I have not used International Chromium Plating but know of folks who have had them do chrome and nickel plating and were very pleased.

They are near me and I will call on them if it is helpful to you.

South Shore Plating in Quincy, MA. They are dock neighbors and friends of mine and their work is great.

I second Tony’s recommendation of American Electroplating.

Neil

I looked them up and the Hawthorne address was still listed. I know one of the partners had moved to Brick. I wonder if he opened a shop down that way.

I checked Manta also and they still show Hawthorne.

I've called or left email inquiries at a bunch of places. The guy at American stated that he doesn't do the small boat parts anymore.

Shame he does not do small parts anymore. He was good. Not cheap but really good. Figure my scuppers 10 years later still looking like they were just done. Heck they have salt water hitting them all the time.

I am sure there is someone else out there.
