Iranian B31?

Post by nestorpr »

I saw this Iranian gunboat at the Seal Museum in Ft. Pierce last week. This may have been posted here before but I was taken by the hull on this recovered (it was found drifting after a firefight with one of our Navy ships) Iranian gun boat. Seems to be a B31 hull modified by the addition of more freeboard, but the bottom lines are unmistakeable, it's a 31.

For what I read about some time ago , Bertram Yacht, Miami , in 1972 build what they call US Enforcer class ordered by Iran to build 40. They only deliver 6 or 7 but its a Bertram 31 (9.5 mts) with a litle more beam
( 3.4 mts) , ours its 3.2 mts , and a draft of 0.9 mts.
It was build to do a speed of 28 Kts and for that they put 2 engines
GM 6V53 with 360 bhp. With a radar Adelco AD7 and was equiped with one machine gun MG 12.7 mm.

All the best

I try to update this info and it seems that Bertram really made and deliver the 40 Bertram US Enforcer Class. The iranians call it Harbour Patrol Craft. This was during the old regime. I am trying to see if they still have some of them.

Let you know if I find something

The ones to Jordan might have belonged directly to King Hussein. I believe he personally owned several 31's. In fact the guys over at Tackle Direct own one of them wiith the 3208 Cats in it.

The plaque said that 2 of these boats attacked a Navy ship, one was sunk and later salvaged and one was found drifting in the gulf. I think this was the one found drifting but am not sure.
