I used LED strip lights off of e-bay under the gunnels. Lights up the deck well without being blinding.

Marshall,
I have some LED strip lights to install under the gunnel. They have an adhesive backing, but I'm thinking in a marine environment, the adhesive will most likely fail. How did you attach the strip lights under the gunnel? Did you use some sort of additional adhesive or glue to attach the light strip?
Also, where did you attach the under gunnel light strip--did you attach it on the underside of the gunnel lip so the lights are facing away from the cockpit or on the cockpit paneling so the lights face the cockpit?

Re: best deck lights and interior lights
My strips had a square base that pressed perfectly into a 1/4" aluminum channel. I screwed the channel into some existing wood that was glassed to the underside of the gunnel. I do not have panels on my gunnels -- just open space. The lights shine straight down. On my flat boat, I simply zip tied the lights under the gunnels. Both have been installed for 10+ years with no issues.

I think these were the ones I used

Thanks for that description Marshall. I have cockpit panels, so the aluminum channel would not work for my boat. I may have to mount them to a small wooden dowel in the space between the lip of the gunnel and the cockpit panel.

Jack: Maybe use the existing adhesive to position them but put a dab of 4200 behind them ever 6" or so. The existing adhesive should hold them in position until the 4300 goes off at least.
