alot of growing pains with hull #1
bertram was either building them on their own after that or they took the molds somewhere else they are no longer at L&M

That's the rivets for the lid, think of a shoe box
If those studs glassed to the tank were for a fighting chair that's something you don't want to put back.

the tank itself? the tanks are laid up in 2 pieces, a tank and a lid
they are laid up a little thinner than what you see now. The baffles are riveted in place, then the lid is placed on and that is also riveted. The whole thing is then wrapped up in more fiberglass

Jim Ray did some if not all the work, that's his logo in the boot stripe.
As to the 3 fills I can't imagine someone needed more fuel you sure they aren't waste or water deck plates?

SR60 I good paint, named due to its 60% copper content which means when it's on your lift it is going to turn very green.
A copper free paint will hold color better
If thinking of vivid you will want "vivid free"

i wasnt paying attention thought it was a 31
maybe i missed it also but whats the need for so much fuel in a 28?
i also dont think that tank design with those 90s is a good idea looks too tight to bend and thats a lot of welding

if you think you are only priming it once white primer will require less white topcoat for coverage if you have a good amount of glass work to do, prime it in the gray. it will be easier to see what needs to be tweaked. first try longer screws, if they dont grab and when you remove the trim nothing is moving around tape it off and use boatlife teak deck sealant
flat trim would be better but half round stainless insert is easier to come by probably why they used it

Ok now i understand, are you wanting this a raw glass finish or will you be fairing it?
2 layers of 1.5oz CSM , dont bother gelcoating it where its going to be tabbed , unless you are doing the gelcoat after its glassed in place

No paint will say it can stay submerged. If you dont antifoul it the paint will blister below waterline, usually small ones. If you dont like it after a season strike a waterline, sand, a coat or 2 of 2000e and the antifouling. It wont hurt the paint above the waterline unless a big sheeet peels off...

curious what your splashwell width is, we modeled this one after a couple of other boats but still trying to keep it as small as possible, owner doesnt want to give up his little storage boxes on the transom cap, going to turn them sideways and glass them back in for him.
