My first Bertram was a 1967 model which sold for 19k with 330 chryslers. The price of a barrel of oil in that year was $3.12. Adjusting for inflation the oil should be $22 a barrel. I would not repower. There are a lot of 31 berts with diesels for sale. You can get exactly what you want at a price you can deal with and save a lot of aggravation. What Tony Meola said is true as can be. Good luck

My son is eliminating the side & rear panels. Something to what bob lico has done. Someone in the hose business has told him it is OK to put the fuel fill next to the engine. He might change his mind.

The starboard rudder post has a indent for the locking collar bolt, but there was no such indent on the port side. is it necessary to have the indent ? I was also looking for a diagram for Capt. Pat' s shelves, could not find it. Thanks

I just got more info from a book titled Your Boat's Electrical System by Miller & Maloney. The min. thickness should be 1/32" and 1/2" wide. They also say you can use 3/4" or 1" copper tubing because it is easy to handle,convenient to connect to and has adequate conductivity.

Need input from forum. Price of copper is at a 4 1/2 year low. I have 3 " strap and was thinking of bending it to 1 1/2" because of the thickness.

We run our engines anywhere from 3000 to 3500 most of the time. They now have 1800 hours on them, we troll but not much. I'm no where near being a mechanic, but you do have to run them up once in a while. Good Luck

Is there a practical way to find a short in the DC wiring? Is there a meter available for detecting shorts? I remember back in the 70's the phone co. used a meter to detect shorts by giving off a series of clicks. Any help would be appreciated.

Hueso, I have your # 1 setup, Yanmars with 20x23 4 blade props. There are 1700 hours on the engines, just finished the past month with 4 trips to the canyons off NJ. We average 132 gal per 30 or 36 hour trip.

Forget the wood. Go to one of the canvas people in your area and pick up cloth trim , 1" wide or larger. It comes in various widths and colors. Good Luck
