All the large boats we repair that run aground have solid glass pads. Damage is, in my opinion, minimal. Laying the pads up from glass and fiberglass is easy but we also want the sheet material to duplicate the supports for the area between the engine boxes. This supports the hatches and side panels...

It would be pretty simple to fabricate out of stainless, in peters case it would put the lower screws right into the deck and the upper screws/bolts visible in the cockpit because no more panel across the stern. I doubt there are off the shelf products as the size of the drains can vary so much Here...

We spin the good side with a pneumatic impact, usually snaps them off. Then bang them out.
Recently out of 6 out of 8 on 2 different 31s took a lot of work, the other 2 came out in about an hour and a half

whatever you do dont bother with or buy the Meguiar's G210256 Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax with SiO2 Boost its beyond terrible stuff

so far I actually found 303 touchless sealant great and I wash with a good quality automotive soap not a marine soap.

its hit and miss on the hardware pricing

just a month or so ago pricing out new stainless engine bolts and lags McMaster was way cheaper than bolt depot
I also find mcmaster's shipping charges extremely reasonable

Well the only good thing is as you got some base on the surface the subsequent gel you put on will lay down better (same with paint or double primer)
