Fuel smell

After shutting down and running the blowers for a while(15 mins) the airconditioning is pulling a strong gas smell into the cabin. New aluminum tank, new fuel lines to filters, rebuilt carb stbd side. Changing out fuel pumps, and all remaining lines now. It seems the carbs( quadrajets) may be perkin...

Fuel efficiency

Having done the overhaul of Sea Chele retaining the good but ultimately replaceable 454s. with diesels, and in light of the cost of diesel, I would like to start a link discussing which engines to get. In my case high speed is not an issue but I need to maintain speed (22-25 kts) in a following sea....

Teak and holly sole

Put teak and holly sole on the 31 with 4 coats of west epoxy and was wondering what kind of topcoat to put on. Spar varnish, 1 or 2 part polyurethane? I know it may seem excessive, but afterall it is a nice boat. :-D

Just finished the job, new Alex Whittaker charterboat deck with fishboxes. new aluminum 225 gal tank. I still have the 454s but the exhaust is 5 inches at the transom. There is plenty room to replace the vernatone mufflers and exhaust if I go to diesels. Already plumbed the tank for diesel returns a...

Engine gauges

as the reconstruction continues need to replace the instrument cluster. Power is gas marine power with low hours so they stay, maybe two years to replace with ethanol resistant mfi 502s. Question is can I use nmea 2000 gauges sensors? maybe to a 10-12" screen/or lowrance EPs to Multi function gauges....

Bob , I'm new here redoing a 73 SF to a FBC. Gas engines are relatvely new and my use does not dictate diesel. I'm cleaning up the gunnels (scoops) and your air intake mods sound good, yet a little confusing. A little more detail or a phone call would be a great thing. Thanks, Bill 772-240-6146
