Re: Anyone have any word on Pete Fallons knee surgery?
Pete emailed me and said it was ok to let you all know that his surgery went well and he is doing fine. He will update us all when he returns home. He promised me he will captain my boat and take me and his world famous surgeon fishing this coming summer.

Rupp Outriggers
Bought some carbon fiber Rupp outriggers last year before the white marlin open. Just last week I noticed that there was an unacceptable amount of motion at the joint between two of the sections. I’ve videotaped it and sent it off to the company and received an email with a diagram of how they shoul...

prop question
Fishing Saturday, 30 miles offshore and shaft snaps and prop bangs off hull. Luckily 31's are a little thick in the fiberglass so we don't sink. When repowered with Yanmar 315's in 2004 they used 1 3/8 shafts. Probably not sufficient especially after reviewing previous posts. Moving up to 1.5 inch s...

Re: Anchor Chock adjustments and drama
Same thing happened to me with a new danforth. I didn’t want to move the chocks that hold the tips so we took a 2 by 4 wedged in between the flukes and a few well directed hammer blows spread them the perfect amount. No new holes in deck.

Visited Fat Tony in LI this past weekend and got to see two awesome 31’s. “Mint” is at Treasue Island Marina in Seaford and has some neat ideas, like the dash that tilts forward to access wiring. And what can you say about “Phoenix”. Bobs son Anthony was gracious enough to give me the grand tour. I ...

On my Bahia Mar I found out that my Yeti 160 fits like it was custom made for between the engine boxes. Had a slightly thicker cushion made and we have a sun pad/resting spot for the ride in and out to the canyons. With the addition of beanbags “Fat Tony” can recline in comfort while eating Cheeze I...

Keeping sea water out of bilge
My 1971 Bahia Mar has forward facing air scoops two on each side amidships for air to the diesel engines. They are rather large and come down flush with the gunwales. I am looking for all and any ways to keep any sea water out of my bilge while running. This includes caps over the rod holders and I ...

I had asked mainly for info and education from the guys. My four batteries are amidships between the engines in a very nice splash prof vented grey wooden box that came with the boat. Also nice rubber strip sealing the hatch. No water on batteries.

Battery placement
Interested in hearing about optimal battery placement from the guys. Under center hatch behind center of gravity/weight midpoint or outboard of engines behind weight midpoint or even further back and where? Plus/minus of each location. Mine is a Bahia Mar.
