Re: Flying bridge seating options
I have two seats on pedestals. They're higher than the factory bench, and I find them more comfortable.

If you decide to change your seating layout and pschaus isn't interested, let me know what you have. Crows Nest is due for a seat upgrade

Re: 23' I Ray Hunt Hull?
Cool boat, but if I were doing a 23, I’d start off with a Formula. They have some bow flair to keep you a little dry. That hull looks like a 31 hull with almost no flair. Any idea on beam?

I put my two former battery boxes in the bilge in a single custom made Coosa battery box that keeps four Group 31 AGM's. Making the battery box was far easier than trying to find a premade unit that would fit. I definitely notice the roll dampening moving them from outboard of the engines to low ce...

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. My only point was that my local West Marine told me that they got a real lot less antifreeze in for this year than they have in the past, and that they weren’t getting any more this season. So, get it while you can.

Antifreeze Shortage?
I was talking to a friend/OB mechanic today, and he told me that he was having a hard time getting shrink wrap and antifreeze in bulk. I went to my local West Marine, and they told me that they only got 10 pallets of antifreeze in, had sold 5 already, and weren't going to get anymore in this year. I...

Re: Capt Patrick's Side Induction Air Boxes
Crows Nest has 8.2 DDs at 300 hp per side. The engine boxes were extended about 11" per side for the motors/gears, so they go past the engine bulkhead by 11". That's what's left of the bulkhead from where it was cut out for the motors/gears. She has no air intake other than what she had as a stock g...

The only 31s that I've seen that were truly turn-key had just been redone and were prohibitively expensive. You either do a lot of the work yourself, and recognize that doing so is a labor of love, or have really deep pockets and turn the work over to a pro (I remember Capt Pat telling me some round...

I haven't spoken to him in years, but an acquaintance here in Annapolis had a 31 FBC with 350s and he had really respectable numbers. I seem to remember a 20 knt or better cruise with better burn than my 454s. I'd guess a Bahia would do better.

Recognize going in that it's not a financial investment that'll pay off. You're not going to get your money out of it when you go to sell--just like almost every other boat.
