If I had the cash I would go turnkey. If the xtra 30 strapped me I would consider buying a boat that needed a bit of TLC but had sound glass and steel. I would use boat and tackle a project at a time. Your "short list" of projects will eat that 30k up fast. Another thing, I think you will be losing ...

Two guys by me have triple outboards, their thought is "Yeah we burn 70gph but we cruise 70+ knots, still a gpm. Plus they are fishing in an hour and a half from the time they leave the dock. Would I pay a little more for clean fuel...shouldn't I be getting clean fuel anyway? This year at 4+ bucks a...

I have 440's and at a slow cruise I can burn as little as 18gph, 1600-1700rpm muttling along at 15-16 mph. Fine if trying to extend a short ride. A realistic burn is much closer to what is being said, 22-24gph gives a decent cruise of 19-20mph @ 2850-2900rpm. Secondaries open and all bets are off as...

Went to Sears and for about 100bucks bought a little fridge that fit right inside the opening, a few brackets to hold the thing in place and I was done. What was really cool (pun intended), leaving the origi...

Your prop is riding the Key, not a good scenario. Your prop has to go up the taper the same distance with or without the key installed fit for a proper install. If the prop rides the key (Binds on the Key) yes it will tighten up as it is wedgeing itself in place. This will throw your wheel out causi...

Try prop on a spare shaft and see if it is the prop. causeing the problem. Prop Bore can be too large, or some yahoo hit the face of the prop hub making too short. If prop is correct then the culprit may be the shaft, a few thousands too small on the taper and you will have the problem. Yes they are...

I put tabs on my last boat and they never got in the way when fishing. A huge difference in cruising speed and economy. I will be putting them on the 31 this year after 12 years without. The larger tank puts a bit too much weight in the back and putt'en along at a slow cruise the bow is up too high,...

You can put bottom paint the the running gear, it can cause issues with the SS, but it flakes off before damage is done. Cayenne, tabasco and others I have tried, but really don't see a difference, other then the cayenne clogged the tip when trying to spray. Running and scraping often seem to work b...

You may want to check for slipage, plug in your info with reduction and see where your slippage falls. If excessive you may want to add some cup while reducing the pitch. A few cents to throw into the pot. Keeping it real simple as you have a big problem and that makes finding it easy. Then keep in mind the goo is coming from the tank itself, you can only take so much resin from the fiberglass before fails.
