Anyone seen this before on a bottom..

Will be stripping bottom soon but was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this on their boats.. It's right on the gelcoat before first coat of bottom paint was put on .. Could it be some type of adhesion promoter.?? I doubt they had sandless primer back then... what ever it is the paint doesn...

Vic, I don't know if the medical grade syringes would work unless the needle was pretty big..I was talking about the plastic ones made for epoxy..

If your blocks are made correct you should be able to drill the holes Sh--faced...

Bob, The screws from underneath are to only fasten the pieces together to each other .... then the whole assembly is attached to the boat from above then bunged

Pretty easy really and requires no lamination or steam binding... Bob .. The chunk of teak has to be glued up from thinner pieces to the desired block size... Bob H .. We didn't use a solid block as J.P. but as a rule if you need to make a 90 degree 6" inside radius then at least that... plus the thickness of the material... If outside radius .. don't need to add material thickness to block... Inside radius....a big drum sander will be handy to finish off...

Thanks Guys..

The oil mix is a version of Buju's...If i remember correctly..Amazons Light w/10% linseed oil.. 3 coats .. with a week in between the 2nd and third...

I like the "light" as it doesn't alter the natural color of the teak that much.....

Pete..

We got about 4" of cement like slush that all fell from 4 to 7 am..

House up north got 12"+ so more snow in front of the boat...

It'll be May before I can get the b20 down here..raining now supposed to be 50 tomorrow.... gotta love New England..

Bob H, 4/4 is 1" rough, will finish cleanly at 13/16"+ , 5/4 is 1 1/4" rough, will finish cleanly at 1 1/16"+ if you plane both sides.. Not sure if you need to plane the backside completely, just enough to flatten it. I would think the rough face would give you a better surface for the epoxy to Bite...

Capt Pat, No Problem .. I think I'm good..The hull measures 1/4" so a grind from both sides will be 1 1/2" from outer edge of hole ..

Finally closing up both in/out through hulls from the old head and removing the plumbing in the B20, and the hull here is only 1/4" thick. I understand the 12-1 guideline but how do you you safely compensate for a larger hole in a thinner area of the hull... Using the 12-1 it would be a 1 1/2" diame...

I'm removing 3 through hulls in the bottom of the B20.. What is the best grit disc and tool to use for feathering out the hole .. ? A couple years ago I used Perfection to redo the engine box and stern panels and had a helluva time sanding just the gel coat.. I think i used 36 grit green alum oxide ...
