Gert, my wife's mother left Amsterdam in 1957, Michele learned Dutch from her and her job as a Delta flight attendant had her flying Schiphol a lot. I was blessed to find my Dutch beauty while we both had Amsterdam trips. I do recall on a bus to Den Hague many years ago seeing a 31 in a canal on the...

I had a potter built 20(19.6) 1976 hull with a two thirsty five Johnson on it when I lived in Islamorada. A stud of a boat stable at rest ran good in a chop and got smoother when you let it go, the only problem so the owner of tavernier creek marina said was "they sink" no foam , well that's why God...

Walter, I used my iPad all over the Abacos with the avionics charts installed, usually $50 but I got on sale for $4.99 on the app store. My iPad is a 3G/wifi model. My understanding is the wifi only does not have the gps( could be wrong) . Anyway with no antenna no wifi signal, and no 3G signal ith ...

I have a Furuno nav net on the boat and bought the navionic charts on sale for $4.99 on sale for my IPad. Took it to the Abacos this summer and the iPad was spot on, easier to use than the navnet. Used the hi priced ziploc gallon iPad holder for wx proofing. Gonna make a semi permanent mount. Great ...

I've got 250s with 4blade 21/23 little cup. Numbers about the same 2650 max give 29kts. Usually cruise offshore at 2000---20-21 kts, 2400 gives more towards 25' the money comes when it gets rough and I can cruise at 1600 and 17 kts. Great way to cover ground in the short chop we get here in s fla. G...

To track back, what a fabulous boat, you can fine tune performance to the max which is impressive, or just build the boat to do what you want. 230 gal diesel, 100 gal water, generator ,ac, hot water , 300 lbs of the mrs clothes, well maybe not that much.three weeks of food for two, three weeks of be...

Noise is not a problem with my engines. A little gear rattle at idle, like two fedex trucks in your driveway. They are much quieter than the 454 at all speeds. At cruise a nice unstrained conversation can be held in the pit. Just sayin the airflow seems adequate without holes in the side. I hate holes

I'm sure my 5.9s use more air but when I put them in we canceled the idea of vent on my yard's advice, with the intent of evaluating the performance, no noticeable visual(smoke) or egt difference. A hundred mile leg from Walkers to Stuart with 86 degree water and 90 degree air was no problem. Bruce ...

Don't have em, don't want em and I know I'll get blasted ,,,, don't need em. 250 cummins no intakes except holes thru rod lockers, and hatch etc. I do have two steps that open a big hole between engine boxes when I run long distances in the heat. At cruis there is no noticeable change in engine perf...

Ok,after 500 mi. Running around the Abacos I realize I really need an autopilot,I have large rudders but still have the original , but renewed cable steering. At a min I need heading hold, nav coupling is not a must. The next on the wanna list is radar, crossing alone is ok but a picture of the buil...

When I did Seachele the decision was to fab my own or buy. I bought one of Alex Whittikers decks from Socal.I got his "charter boat decks" without the fancy inserts and so on. I did get the lift out fishbones. Very strong needed some fitting, but I am quite satisfied. I think he hatch layout is bett...

Alexes or your own from coosaboard would be better. $$$. it all depends on your desire/ability/cost analysis. i am happy with Alex's for the price as I say I am happy.
