I posted about 2 weeks ago. I put the West Marine paint on last Friday. The only difference I could see was in the amount of Copprus oxide.
West is 37% and is made by Pettit.
Act is 41% and is made by Interlux.
I'll check it out in July and see how it holds up.

I was at West Marine today, the manager told me that all their brand paint is now made by Pettit.
He has used that CPP and has had no problems for the last 2 years.
I am going to give it a try.

West Marine CPP Ablative paint

Has anyone tried this antifouling paint? I saw it advertised last year and a I got a flyer in the mail from West Marine showing same.
This stuff is lot cheaper than some others. Must be a reason.
Also, Boaters World came out with some water based Antifouling paint.
Any thoughts?

Dug, for a shim on the Bennetts I used PVC board, cut down from 3/4" thickness. This stuff is great, not cheap, but it will last forever.

Cockpit paint

I have a fiberglass cockpit deck that I have been painting with Awlgrip for 4 years. We do a lot of fishing and the paint takes a beating. Looking for something that will hold up better. How about a material called "Gator Grip"? Any answers will be appreciated.

Brewster, i went to that show about 7 or 8 years ago and it looked like the only boats they were showing were cocktail boats with a foreign accent. For me it's the AC show in early Feb. Probably the 2nd best show in the USA. Miami is still No. 1.

I agree with Zero, that hole can only inhale so much air, plus i can clean the air filters at least once. I don 't know what the cost of a Cummins air filter is, but the Yanmar is not expensive at all.

Who needs problems? Why not use the KISS method of life? Use Cummins or Yanmars and eliminate prop. pockets, extending engine boxes, etc. Today is Tuesday, Election Day and as they say in NJ, vote early and often.

I was running around 3400 RPM's. I have a 2:1 gear with prop. sizes of 20x23.5. The boat does top off at about 33.5 knots.

Hurricane forecast cut

They ( ?) have again lowered their (?) forecast for the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic for the next few months.Why does the TV weatherman laugh when his forecast is 180 Deg. off the mark? I have never believed in those weather models, too much info can confuse anyone.

At last years Miami boat show the company next door to the in the water show ( Sun Electronics ) had them on sale for $750, no tax. I went and picked up two. They are no longer at that location. I have seen them for as much as $1050.

I hammer the hell out of them, they never fall off. I put 2 on each shaft, 1 about 6" from the strut, and one about 8" from the hull. I also use shaft brushes.
