Interesting, a 37 with a windshield.engine room might be a a bit tight for diamond 450s, but if anyone can do it Gert can. Congrats can't wait to see this winters masterpiece.

As much ass 92s scare me 375 cats in a 37 give 17-18 kts. Also the engine room does not allow for an old body like mine to maneuver very well. Tony, the 250s with 1+3/8 were on my Seachele31. Ran her for a few years w no problem. I was told that was the limit so got new aqua22 shafts no need for strut changes. Worked good.

Fwiw the Sherwood pumps are crap for a boat used 12 mos. a year. Tony's pumps are a huge reliable upgrade. Now I think I have an old Sherwood maybe 2 at home. I get back tuesday, I'll check if you need them, Bill. I use them as door stoppers.

Thanks Capt, figured that but I really was surprised by the level of penetration I got from the Smiths. Suppose thinned west would do the same but I can be sold just bout anything if somebody tells me it wrks better. Now let's talk about trim tabs on a 31 :-)

How about using penetrating epoxies like Smiths. Used it for a cherry countertop in my 38 to protect it from water/wine stains, multiple coats then some west coats then finally spray a satin varnish. Seems ok.i like using the Smiths ,wood just soaks it up.

One of the things I have always appreciated about this forum, is the overwhelming camaraderie , and compassion shown here. For this, I thank Capt Patrick. I bought my 250 s with750 hrs. For $12k w 2/1 gears. Swapped out for 1.5 gears. Good engines for the 31 be cautious of the Lucas cav injection pump. They did run a little smokey on the transom but 25 kts at 2400 29 at pins 2650. Great motors.

After comparing maintenance cost and simplicity on my 38 purchase, between a 420 3126, and 450 cummins c the cummins had it hands down. Go with a 330/370 cummuns B.

Kevin, just ran my 79 38 convertible to Islamorada from Stuart, full of fuel and water cruise at 21 kts at 2100, on the pins 27.5 at 2700. Slightly under propped. 450 c series diamond cummins. Lots of room in the engine room get the remans. Bill call me at 7722406146

Had 250 6bs on my somewhat stock Fbc, she pinned at 29 on a good day, stable, ran 25 at 2400 , was happy at 2200 at 22 kts.long runs at sea were that 2200.
