Bill,

Epoxy barrier coat is a necessary item to keep water being absorbed into the fiberglass. Lack of a good barrier coat is just asking for osmotic blisters...

Bill,

You should be adding a couple or more coats of epoxy barrier coat, and if so, you can skip the gelcoat, and add a little extra barrier coat on that spot...

On cored items such as decks, the best strength comes from more glass applied to the under (or tension) side. See: Tips Section.

Remember that plywood will eventually go bad once water gets to it, Coosa is pretty much forever... And lighter.

OK, now with the added picture, it looks as though your deck is already removable as a one piece construction.

The size of the Coosa pieces are fine. Bedding them in with thickened resin & without capturing air pockets will be trickier with the larger pieces...

I presume you'll also be carrying a large cal side arm. The long gun is fine for that 50 yard and over shot, but up close and personal, I'd want some backup in the range of .357 mag - .44 mag.

Tempered glass is more flexible and you can overcome some twist with the thickness of the Sikaflex glazing. What are you calling a "mild twist"?

Big question for all today is tempered glass or laminated for the side windows. Seems to be strong and valid opinions on both sides of the debate. Tempered glass is 5 - 6 times the strength of ordinary glass. Tempered glass cannot be cut after it has been tempered. Laminated glass is very difficult...
