Re: bertram 25 /formula 233
My Dad bought a 233 Formula new in 1967 when I was 8. I grew up on that boat. He ran it around LI Sound up until 5 or 6 years ago when the motor beds and aft stringers got dangerously soft. The 233 hull is one of the best ever. Lots smaller than a B25. I have his 233 stored here. It may get restored...

Re: Annapolis, MD Rendezvous
Big shout out to Roddy of "Hers" and Rob of "Lulu" for the B31 Rendezvous at the Hyatt in Cambridge. It was a really well organized event at a great facility for a rendezvous. I think there were close to 30 Bertrams, including a couple of 20s, a 28, close to 10 31s, a 5 or so 35s, a 39, and another ...

Mark- Sorry, I don't know the local hotels in Cambridge. Easton is about 20 minutes away and has a great little downtown that'd be nice for a getaway. So do St. Mikes and Oxford. Oxford is really small, but a neat little town with a couple of nice restaurants and bars. The Hyatt in Cambridge is real...

Re: Advice from all who have done a restoration
If I were doing it again, I'd find the best B31 for the money with the diesels I want. If I were more limited on funds (and I always am), I'd get one of the B31s you found with Cummins in the high $20s. Make sure the install was done right. Get the motors surveyed by someone who really knows what th...

The foredeck/bow isn't cored. There are f'glassed in stiffeners that run sort of fore and aft. As pointed out, a little flex is normal.

Re: Advice from all who have done a restoration
You’ll save money if you buy a boat that’s already been restored if you find a restored boat that works for you. You’ll also save money if you buy a boat that has the motors you want but needs restoration. If you want Cummins, then find a B31 that needs work but has a Cummins repower done right. Buy...

From what I can tell, those are the biggest oem rudders that came on a B31. Crows Nest (my 1977 B31) has the same rudders. I think those rudders are pretty good. I had smaller rudders on the Anna E (1969 B31) and it didn't steer at all. I replaced those with Cap. Pat's oversized rudders. Big improve...

As I remember, Doug, the PO of Crows Nest had a side window break. He cut a replacement out of thin Home Depot plexiglass or whatever it is they sell. It was thin enough that you could flex it to get it into the frame. Otherwise, you have to take the frame out. If it were me, I'd do what Doug did. C...

I can check mine tomorrow. The bimini on Crows Nest is lower than I wanted, but works well for me because I’m short. B31 is a pretty short boat for a FB, and I think the lines get a little off if the bimini or hard top is too tall

Interesting discussion to follow. My 2 cents. When converting a boat to a full bracket, just be aware that it'll change the handling/ride characteristics. Re: Bertram's 35, 37 and 38 Comparison
They're all very different boats. The 35 interior and flybridge layouts changed in 1981, with the FB offering "tournament" seating (a bench seat forward of the helm/controls). The 35s in the early 80s came with 3208 Cats with, I think, 320 hp, and moved along nicely (also came as gassers). I've seen...
