Whenever I look for a "new" boat, I check at what speed I can get it to plane off. I've been out too many times when 13-15 knots was as fast as was comfortable, and I don't want a boat that's wallowing around trying to get over its bow wave at those speeds. I went to Kastel Brothers in St Michaels. They did the shaft/coupler work for me a few years ago on the port side. They miked up the bolt I brought with me, set me up, I bolted it back together, and ran her yesterday. She’s fine. Thanks for the help.

A transmission flange to coupler bolt sheared on Crows Nest. I’m guessing that the bolts have been on there at least 18 years and are pretty corroded. They’re not stainless.
