You can do a dry run alone and listen to everything since you sit above the engines. Up on the bridge I can't always hear or see everything going on. So I take the wife and make her run it while I hunt around.

On a lot of the 31's, can't speak for the other models, the gas engines were hooked up to a circuit breaker. That was used to energize the starting circuit, same as turning an ignition switch on. Yannis If you lower the engines and design the strut properly you really don't need to move the rudders back. I am not sure if John added extra fuel, but with diesels what John was doing should not be a problem as long as you have the 220/230 gallon tank which I believe Bertram switched over to sometime around 1970. With Gas engines you would probably need about 50 more gallons.

Sierra has a pretty good reputation. They will give you 5 to 7 years of service. That is pretty much the same as OEM in salt water. We use to change ours every 7 years no matter what. We had a connection at the time and only used Merc Cruiser. We could by them cheaper than aftermarket.
