Dug, I went through the same thing this spring. It turned out that mine were made by Buck Algonquin which, oddly enough is local, but I had to order as they don't do retail. I think I ordered from an outfit in Miami. Shipping was super fast and I believe the parts were actually shipped by Buck.... Y...

Just wanted to provide an update... The steering cylinder was bad for certain. I sent the offending part to Southern Charm on Monday via FEDEX, called them Wednesday, and it was done! Yes, I've removed the cylinder and something internally is preventing full travel. I sent it off to Southern Charm today.

I have full and easy travel to the rudders / linkage by hand. Surprisingly easy!

Thanks,

Hynautic Steering Question

Gents, This spring I splashed the B28 and she didn't want to steer to port. (much) I checked the pressure gauge and it was down maybe 5 lbs so I pumped it back up and found a small leak at one of the fittings on the helm just from being a bit loose. I tightened that and bled the system according to ...

While its a bit more fufu than a stick (which worked fine in the plane for years) you might consider something like these:

I'm leaning this way on my B28.

All, Last season I started to get a subtle whining noise form what I thought was my port side transmission. It only happened at idle speed in gear. If I added any power at all, say 100 to 200 RPM, it went away. The gears are 1:1.52 velvet drives behind SBC Crusaders. I was wondering if the issue cou...
