I have heard about the Forked River operation. i had the yanmars installed by Tim Silveo of Down Jersey Marine in Greenwich, NJ.. He did a terrific job and I do recommend him.

Tony, my son now owns my boat, it has 2800 hours on 315 yanmars. They are a great engine, as long as you do the correct maintence. I did install a fresh water flush system with assist from Tony Athens. My friend is going to be looking @ the 8 cyl. yanmars and probably the 330 cummins.

I would go with the yanmar 370 hp engine. The 3208 cats are a tight fit. Good luck

Tony M, the boat was owned by a guy from from ocean city and was stored at yanks boat yard in tuckahoe.we brought a 75 model later on and repowered with 315 yanmars. My son now owns the boat and the name is "Seaveyor". The boat is in Palm beach condition.

About the early 1970's the price of oil quadrupled and everything went up in price. I had a sales slip for a 31 Bert. In 1967, the price was $ 19k. The power was 330'hp chryslers. How things have changed.

Does anyone know the length of service for barry mounts. The engines are 315 yanmars and we put about 220- hours a year on them. We do not beat the boat up, most hours are trolling.

I was told to use the dipstick on the top of the engine. My engines were set up for oil changes exactly as Bruce said. It makes life easy.

I took the course around 2003 with Larry Berlin as the instructor. It was a 1 day class. Glad I took it, very informative and helped me many times. Engines now have 2400 hours. I would recommend it.

The job was completed last Wednesday ( 4-11 ). The set screws were drilled out and more powerful press pushed the old cutlass out. Retapped the holes and put new set screws in. The old press used had half the power of the one that did the job. Thanks for all your replies.

We are going to drill out the set screws and use a powerful press to push out the bearing. Should be as easy as pie. I hope.

My son is replacing the cutlass bearings on his 31. He asked me to take out the old ones, but I have run into a problem. The Allen set screws will not budge. Have tried heating them but no luck. They have been on the boat for 13 years. Any info would be appreciated.

The boat sank on a bar and it was raised the next day. Someone went on the boat and stole the electronics.this happened at Ponce inlet. Go see the pictures on the Hulltruth site.

The longest measurement from bolt hole to bolt hole, stern side is 62". By the way my son was dealing with Morgan Bertram.

My son got in touch with the Bertram people and found out there was no change to the flybridge screen. It has always remained the same.

We had a discussion regarding battery group. The new 27 group has a lot more starting and reserve power than the earlier ones. We have 2 group 31's for starting and a D for the house batt. My son wants to use the group 27 and it has quite a lot of power. Does anyone have any thoughts on this.

Basically there are some small screws in the bottom of the track which you can locate using a small flathead screwdriver and maybe 2 on the front end and about 2 on the topside and only a couple at the rear of the stern wind...

I think we have found a glass slider that replaces the fuzzy and the plastic bottom slider. It is exactly 7/16 wide, the same as the original window. We will know for sure on Friday, and I will post the results and where to buy it at the best possible price.

Yes they are tinted. The crack we get is on the inside ,it goes from the stern to the bow for the entire length of window. I' ll tell my son what you said and go from there. Thanks a lot for the info.

A few years ago Vic Roy and I agreed that it would be a problem. It is a terrible problem. I just read a post on BoatDiesel .com about that engine and drive. What a mess.
