Ronco plastics were always 3/8" while the Todd tanks were either 1/4" or 5/16". Thicker is better. Not so much for strength but stopping odor permeation.

I used to use Godfrey zincs. Then I had one that after an entire year in the water it still looked brand new. Then I hauled & next year put it on the opposite shaft. End of that season it STILL looked brand new. Threw it away & stopped using Godfrey.

Art, if you're talking about a tank in a B33 SF there is a foto with dimensions at this site. Scroll down about 6 posts. We pulled this tank from a 1985 SF. It was a 315 gal. tank. Forget the idea of a bladder inside the tank. There are 6 interior baffles held in with rivets covered with fiberglass....

The B33 site got hacked & really hosed this time. I don't know if David will continue the site as a few years back both his engines were wiped out from ethanol. I don't even know if he has a boat anymore as he was also laid off.

It might be heat related. Pick up a can of duster at Staples & try spraying the distributor next time it happens. That should cool it down. Suggest you wear a rubber glove when you do it.

You can also check with Fastenal. There is no schedule. When they have a truck going from one area to another, they just include your item. I had a garden tractor grader blade shipped from Wisconsin for short money.

Scott, I would also pull the valve covers, spray everything down with WD40 to clean up the valve train. Then Corrosion X or similar on the valve train.

Had my B33 soda blasted last fall. I'm also looking for advice on what type of barrier coat. Any "gotchas" to applying? Up here in New England many guys have switched to Pettit Hydrocoat & swear by it.

A 3" drywall screw works wonders at digging out the old packing. Also, soaking the old packing helps a lot as it will be hard & crusty after drying out all winter.

Hate to disagree but my 1978 454 Mercs have a sticker on the valve covers stating that WOT is 3800 rpm. The Bertram owners manual shows Bert tested to that spec. My last boat had a 1984 Merc 454 & that spec was 4100 > 4400 rpm.

I gave misleading info. I mixed a small batch, precoated & waited forty minutes on that. Then I mixed up the bigger batch & IMMEDIATELY started with dipping the woven roving & getting the problem. The first precoat batch without the roving was fine. That says to me the epoxy/hardener was OK.
