Based on the professional quality of the work shown in your posts, I’m sure you’ve checked the specs on required area for air induction for your new engines. Needless to say, diesels don’t like to be starved for air; and salt ingestion is not good good. You work faster than most, and your quality lo...

What Carl said: "An old Bertram with ol' 671 motors is going to an old Bertram with old 671 motors"; I will only add to that: "an old Bertram that had sunk in a hurricane"......adds a whole new dimension. Count your blessings, and may the hunt continue.....

Re: Advise on purchasing B37 6V71
The VERY BEST advice you could possibly get came from Todd Pearce above: "buying a B37 that someone else has always loved and maintained is by far the better coarse of action". He states clearly that he has been where you say you are headed, and he made clear he would avoid that course of action. Nu...

Got it, Ryan; with your clarification and Jorge's comments makes sense. Yes, Bertram would provide added support at hull and transom penetrations by glassing in a layer (or layers) of marine plywood. Not unusual in these 40-50 year old boats for water to invade the core of plywood and rot it out lea...

Yannis, you are correct. By elevating your line-of-sight by even 6-8 feet, your vision watching baits being trolled on or just under the surface is greatly enhanced. While billfishing it's not unusual for a marlin or sailfish to swim under the bait momentarily before hitting it. Expert fishermen (of...

Amberjack is correct that it is the USCG Documentation Number assigned to the boat. Since we know Cam’s 25 was the 336th hull popped and it’s birthdate is 5/29/63, and Jim Wynne’s Bertram25 (although referred to as a 24) ran the April, 1961, race, we have roughly a 24 month time differential. Ricky, since you have a hard top I like the top mount rather than the bridge mount. Your mounting base is 6'-8' higher in elevation so your antennae doesn't have to be as long or bulky to achieve the same line-of-sight.
