B 28 cabinet project

Hello All If you didn't have a second station on a 28 you had some sort of cabinet. You couldn't reach the window or outlet on top without a struggle. The draws were hard to get to because the door did not open all the way. So I did a little modification. Now we have a bench and storage. I will see n...

Re: Interior layout

I don’t have a dedicated bathroom on my 28. It came that way from the factory with a toilet in the vberth , which is now a porter potty which can be removed when needed. We definitely use the galley way more than the bathroom. with almost 8 feet of countertop we have a refrigerator, a separate freez...

Hi all
I’m just looking to put the carpet like it was on the hull. Not so much for warmth, but more for sound. The water makes a hell of a lot of noise.

Re: Getting started on the 28'

Nelson If you can see in the picture, I put brackets on the bulkheads. The angle of the hull is what holds up the shelf. It just kind of worked out that way. On the face of the shelf I used inch and a half by three-quarter inch oak which gave the plywood some rigidity. If I go to the boat this week ...

Re: Getting started on the 28'

I also removed my rug and didn't know what to do so I painted. But one thing you might want to consider is putting shelves. I gained a lot of storage and it did not interfere with sleeping. They were a little tricky to get in because my forward bulkhead was still in and I had to go in through the do...

Re: Sealing the lower helm dashboard

There is a product called Mortite corking cord. You can buy it at Lowes. It’s made to be removable.
It’s by the weather strip not the corking. I think Bertram used it to seal my 28’s gauge panel.
It’s been around forever. Hope this helps..

I bought this for other reasons but it’s a great flashlight. You can get an optional finger loop so that if you open the palm of your hand the light doesn’t fall. With the finger loop you can also have the light on top of your knuckles so you can use your hand. Can’t beat it for the price. https://w...

They get mounted with screws.
If anybody knows where to get them or who makes them please post.

The stainless vents have hoses that go to the bilge, no blowers just hoses. The white “mail slots” are part of the
Velocijet exhaust system That they started using around 1983. The exhaust gasses go out of the mail slot and water
Goes out the stern.

The table is made from an old swim platform. It is mounted very solid so if you need something to hold onto it’s there.
