If there is a ballast resistor in your ignition circuit, you should see significantly less than 12 volts at the coil. Check it with the engine running since some ignition systems have a relay which bypasses the ballast resistor to give the coil a full 12 volts for starting.

I am not certain that the gas struts will do what you think they will do. I have gas struts on the Bilco Doors for my basement entrance and the doors require considerably more effort to open than the old ones which just used a mechanical latch to hold them open. YMMV.

I got my oversized rudders from Bobby Soles propeller. The swivel sockets and tiller arms are standard parts from the Buck Algonquin catalog. I had a local propeller shop make a tie bar for me.

Fuel filter and fuel pump (mechanical) are both mounted on the engine. I don’t believe there is any danger of fuel leakage because that line is not under pressure. Also I have antisiphon fittings at the fuel tank.

My experience agrees with the comments above. My boat easily planes at 15 knots. My trim tabs are stuck at what I assume to be neutral position.

The first two boat canvas guys I talked to rejected the idea of using cushions. The guy who has been doing our home furniture ended up doing the work. Cushions fit so well that they only needed four 1”x4” industrial grade Velcro strips each to hold them in place.

When I pulled my coupling, I used a flange puller from Buck Algonquin to apply pulling pressure on the coupler. That allowed me to hit the coupler with a hammer without risking damage to the transmission.

I was able to drill out the two frozen set screws with a left-handed cobalt steel drill.
