Ian, Cut and fit a V shaped wedge that conforms to the interior of the bow leaving the flat facing you... Should be about 2" thick at the deepest point. Epoxy that in and then you'll put a steel backing plate between the wood and the nuts. Use a hard wood, like oak if possible, but pine will work. B...

I believe anyone who added 1000 lb. of lead to 31 needs their head examined. Scott, Adding "dead weight", (static balasting), has the advantage of distributing the weight in the correct places. Extra fuel is a dynamic load that changes constantly and affects the running characteristics as the load ...

Page, Increasing the tank size would entail not only having the tank built, but also restructuring the deck substructure. The deck work may not be that much of an additional expense if the original plywood deck is present. If so, the deck is already on the project list. A new tank will cost from 2 -...

Phil, Since it's an interior deck and you're going to laminate vinyl over it, just seal it well with sanding sealer. Maybe three or four coats on the under side and edges, a couple of coats on the top. Epoxy won't give much more advantage over this and would be far more costly and time consuming. Ep...

Mike, There's two ways you can tighten the tie bar from sloppin' fore and aft. 1. you should have a threaded hole on the connector ends, opposite the end that fits onto the tiller arm. Harv, Never use straight epoxy as a final finish... It's too soft of a surface & will yellow. The yellowing may be a bit slower to develop on interior bright work, but it'll happen none the less. It'll also lose it gloss rather quickly. Epifanes makes some fast build up urethanes that can be re-coat...
