Split A/C unit replacement
My forward A/C compressor has finally died. It is a split unit by CruisAir and it's the original from 1983. Painted Green. Does anyone know what size unit that Bertram put in the 1983 model 38'? i.e. What is the BTU replacement, and any recommendations on where to purchase it? Have 2 registers, one ...

Re: Boeing 787-9
I have flown both Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Not flown the 787. She really is a beautiful A/C. I think Boeing has really done well with this airframe, and we should be seeing quite a few of these flying around the world. Been flying Airbus now for the last 12 years, and other than just a different ...

Resurrecting this thread, I have need of a new/replacement H20 for my 1983 38'
Present unit has been "Rebuilt" twice now, and still leaking.
Any ideas on where I can get a replacement?

Gent's
This thread has me really thinking about the old 3208T's I have in my 1983 38 Convertible II
What would be a good replacement for the motors in this boat.
Have had her now 20 years, and thinking it would be better to repower, than go out and get into another boat.

Re: Inverter / Battery / charger
Kind of what I was anticipating. Going internally and removing (Bypass) the GCI outlets, other than properly rated fuses and correctly sizing the wiring, Am I forgetting anything else? As you point out, the 3 blade plug doesn't sound like a proper connection for vibration and boat applications. Does...

Re: Inverter / Battery / charger
Bruce, I have a 2500 Watt AC Delco unit with 2 GFI plugs for the outputs. I would like to hard wire the inverter to supply a buss to power more than just 2 items. How can I do this , and still keep the GFI protection for the circuit? None of the other items will be more than the 2500 watt output, ev...

Re: Ultrasonic Antifoulant
" Horse Puckey" That's funny Capt Pat. I was only asking as I have never found any paint to be able to stay on the shafts and props, and when I don't use the boat, the growth takes 2 hours to scrape off. Takes some of the fun out of it all. I was hoping that someone had experience with the running g...

Re: Ultrasonic Antifoulant
Thanks Peter, Where I am the water moves quickly in and out, but is very warm and the growth is amazingly fast, for the summer months. Cools off in the fall/winter season. There seem to be some new models on market now, and I was curious if they were any better than the older styles. Thank you for y...

Anyone with experience with any of these units?
Am very Interested, as am tired of paying divers, and doing it myself.
Do these things really work?

Re: al bundy royal flush award for vdo.................
Yes she is a 83 model and have had her for going on almost 19 years now
Still have the original Cats. Rebuilt them about 11 years ago and running good still.
Any recommendations on a brand of charger now that I have to replace the old one?

Re: al bundy royal flush award for vdo.................
Bob I have a 38 Convertable III. I have room in side walls, but will probably have to install a small fan to bring in cool air from the house. I have to have portable A/C units running all the time to keep the boat cool. If I run my main house unit, I would be cleaning the strainer about daily with ...

Re: al bundy royal flush award for vdo.................
Have found my ProMarnier 1240i+ battery charger fried. (Going to send back to see if it's repairable) Has been on port side wall of engine room, in front of engine. Hot and dusty, but has not gotten wet. Have read the posts above, and I am in particular agreement with Bob about moving it into the ca...

Removal of coolant in 3208 Cats
Trying to remove all of the old coolant from a pair of 3208T's in my B38 has always been a problem.
Any suggestions for removing all the old coolant, short of removing a freeze plug? (said tongue in cheek. I don't really plan on doing that)
Thanks

Re: Dripless Shaft seals, or stay with the Old Faithfull
Guys, Thanks for all of the replies. I was replacing the stbd shaft and both of the rubber hoses over the glands while it's in the yard, so I thought why not. I've had the boat for 19 (will be 20 years this Nov) and have had zero problems with the stuffing glands, so I will just stay with them. Many...

Dripless Shaft seals, or stay with the Old Faithfull
Hello everyone, Am a new member and own a 1983 38' Convertible III Boat is in yard now and I wish to know whether I should just stay with the old flax seal stuffing box that came with the boat 30 years ago, (and still works quite well). Or should I bite the bullet to put in the PSS Dripless shaft se...
