I can't tell you anything about 3116 Cats, but I love the 3208s. Only problem I have had in 9 years with the Cats is rusted out oil pans. Do the best you can to get a good look underneath the engines. Use a light and a mirror to check the bottom of the pans. It's not the worst problem in the world, ...

Good suggestion! Until you hit me over the head with the suggestion, I was assuming the valves were already in the system. Maybe they are not. I will pursue when I remove the old pump.

Update: The leak is in the auto pilot pump, not the hoses. The fluid is running from the pump down on to the hose bundle. The auto pilot is a B&G Network Pilot. Thanks guys! I checked the Sea Star bottle and it says you can substitute aircraft hydraulic fluid #5606, so I guess that answers the question.

Capt Frank: For what its worth I just pulled a 3208 to replace an oil pan. We did it on land with a crane from the rear and it was a piece of cake. Sounds to me like there are to many things that can go wrong pulling the motor in the water.

I personally would not try it.
