Bruse-Mase gen set question

Bruce I serviced my gen set yesterday and it was running good until I changed the Racor...now it will only run for a few seconds. I know it's self priming and i have changed it before without a problem, the only change i made was to go to a smaller micron filter (R12S in stead of R12T the only one i could find) do you think it's to restrictive
