Gas Tanks Again

Like the rest of you, I have been struggling with what to do with my gas tanks because of the eth mess. I repowered in winter 06 only to be faced with this mess this spring. I am considering replacing with new glass or stainless tanks. I have 2 questions the Bert community may be able to help me with:

1) Are there any regs against using stainless steel? My mechanic got info from a aluminum tank maker that stainless was against Coast Guard regs. Of course he is biased because he makes Aluminum tanks. This info does not pass the smell test, but I thought somebody on this board may have some relevant info.

2) Does anybody know of a manufacturer of stainless tanks that can get me one on Cape Cod?
