What's changing? Shorter tank fore and aft or lower height? If its shorter don't load the unit fore or aft but rather centered in the old opening. If its lower ask yourself how the boat handled on 3/4 of a tank cause that'll be your new starting point.
I always thought of fuel like horsepower the more you can safely get in the better even if you don't use it.
